Dr. Rhema Stradford Dai, Ed.D.

Dr. Rhema Stradford Dai is an experienced elementary school leader, scholar-practitioner, author, and speaker whose work centers on a fundamental belief: schools flourish when leaders intentionally develop people. Across her career, she has led at the intersection of instructional excellence, adult development, organizational learning, and community. Her professional experience includes principalship, assistant principalship, instructional and culture leadership, school founding, graduate teaching, and leadership preparation across a wide range of educational contexts.

Dr. Dai brings an unusual breadth of preparation to her work. She earned her Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from the University of Southern California, a Master of Education in Transformational School Leadership, and a Master of Science in Early Childhood Education. Her scholarship explores educational leadership, adult development, instructional leadership, early childhood leadership, women's leadership, Black women's leadership, constructivist leadership, organizational learning, and school culture. Her doctoral research examined the experiences of Black women lower-school principals in independent schools through Black Feminist Theory and Adult Constructive Developmental Theory.

What distinguishes Dr. Dai's work is the integration of scholarship and practice. She has founded schools, led instructional teams, developed educators, taught aspiring school leaders, designed graduate learning experiences, and contributed to professional and academic conversations about leadership. Her approach is deeply developmental: she is interested not only in what leaders do, but in how they grow, how they make meaning, and how organizations create the conditions in which adults and children can flourish.

Her leadership framework is organized around four commitments: Develop People, Strengthen Instruction, Build Community, and Lead Systems. These commitments shape her work in schools, higher education, writing, speaking, and professional collaboration. She is particularly interested in the relationship between adult learning and school improvement, and in how educational leaders build cultures that are academically rigorous, relationally strong, joyful, and sustainable.

Dr. Dai's current work includes writing, scholarship, professional learning, speaking, and selected collaborations with schools, universities, researchers, publishers, and educational organizations. She continues to develop a body of work that connects leadership theory with the daily realities of schools and the people who lead them.
